Section 1 Who We Are and Who This Policy Covers

Origins Curriculum is a nature-based PreK through 5th grade curriculum for homeschool families and classrooms, operated by Origins Curriculum Inc., 11864 Buffalo Speedway, Missoula, Montana 59808. We are the party responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at any time using the details in Section 15.

This policy applies to parents, guardians, educators, schools, organizations, and other adults who visit our website, sign up for a free or paid program, purchase a course or product, book a session, or contact us. Our accounts are for adults. Children use our curriculum through a parent, guardian, or educator; Section 7 explains how we handle information about children.

This policy covers our website, member portal, subscription checkout pages, courses, live classes, one-on-one sessions, and the emails and text messages we send. It works together with our Terms of Service.

Section 2 Information We Collect

Information you give us

  • Contact details: your name, email address, mobile phone number, and mailing address.
  • Account and purchase details: the plans, courses, and products you choose, the number of children enrolled, your login credentials, and your subscription and payment history.
  • Billing and shipping details: your billing address and, for Bloom families, the shipping address for printed materials. Card numbers are entered into and stored by our payment processors. We do not store full card numbers on our own systems.
  • Information about your children or students: if you choose to share it, details such as a child's first name, age or grade, learning needs, interests, and goals, along with notes from applications, questionnaires, and onboarding. We use these to place children in the right level and personalize their learning plan. You provide this information as the parent, guardian, or educator.
  • Messages and requests: what you send us through emails, text messages, chat, contact forms, surveys, and reviews.
  • Calls and live sessions: consultation calls, one-on-one sessions, and live classes may be recorded. We let you know when a session is being recorded. See Section 7 for how recordings that include children are handled.
  • Education funding information: if you pay through an Education Savings Account (ESA) or similar program, the information needed to process that payment.
  • Consent records: the date, time, form, and wording you agreed to when you opted in to emails or text messages, and any later opt-out.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, links clicked, the website that referred you, the dates and times of your visits, and general location based on your IP address.
  • Email and text engagement: whether an email was delivered or opened, and whether links in our emails and texts were clicked.
  • Cookies, pixels, and similar technologies: used to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, understand how our site is used, measure our advertising, and show you relevant ads on other websites and social media platforms. Some of these technologies are provided by our advertising and analytics partners. See Section 8.

Information from other sources

We may receive information about you from social media platforms when you interact with our pages or submit a form inside an ad, from affiliates or partners who refer you to us, from ESA programs and education funding platforms that confirm your eligibility and process your payment, and from payment processors that confirm a transaction succeeded.

Section 3 How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to:

  • create and manage your account and deliver the curriculum, courses, live classes, and sessions you signed up for;
  • personalize learning plans for your children based on the information you share;
  • process payments, subscriptions, renewals, and refunds, prevent fraud, and ship printed materials to Bloom families;
  • send account and service messages, such as receipts, login help, renewal reminders, appointment confirmations, schedule changes, and live class schedules;
  • send newsletters, curriculum updates, new releases, and offers, but only to people who have agreed to receive them;
  • advertise our Services and measure how our advertising performs;
  • answer questions and provide support;
  • understand how our website and curriculum are used so that we can improve them and develop new programs;
  • keep accurate consent and opt-out records and protect our systems; and
  • comply with the law, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect the rights and safety of our community.

We do not use information about children for advertising. We do not use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Section 4 Email Communications

Service emails. If you have an account or subscription, we will email you about it. These messages include receipts, password resets, billing notices, renewal reminders, and important changes to your service or to this policy. Because they relate to a service you signed up for, you cannot opt out of them while your account is active.

Update and promotional emails. With your permission, we also send newsletters, curriculum updates, new course announcements, and offers. Every one of these emails includes an unsubscribe link and our mailing address. You can unsubscribe by clicking that link, by replying to ask us to stop, or by writing to [email protected]. We process unsubscribe requests within 10 business days, and usually much sooner.

Unsubscribing from update emails does not cancel your subscription and does not stop service emails about your account.

Section 5 Text Message (SMS) Program

Program name: Origins Curriculum Alerts. When you opt in, Origins Curriculum may send you recurring text messages about curriculum updates, new releases, live class reminders, account and subscription notices, and occasional offers.

Your consent

  • We only text you if you agree to it, for example by checking an unchecked consent box on one of our forms or by texting a keyword to our number.
  • Consent is not a condition of purchase. You can subscribe to any Origins plan without agreeing to receive text messages.
  • By opting in, you confirm that you are the account holder or authorized user of the mobile number you provide.

What to expect

  • Message frequency varies. We expect to send no more than 3 messages per month.
  • Message and data rates may apply, according to your mobile plan.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

How to stop or get help

ReplyWhat happens
STOPYou are unsubscribed from our text messages. STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, QUIT, and STOPALL all work.
HELPYou receive a reply with our contact information. You can also email [email protected] or call (406) 282-1755.
STARTYou are re-subscribed after previously opting out.

You can also opt out in any other reasonable way, such as replying "please stop texting me," emailing us, or telling us on a support call. After you opt out, we may send one final message confirming that you will not receive further texts. We honor every opt-out as soon as practicable and no later than 10 business days.

Your mobile information is never sold or shared for marketing. Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the categories of sharing described in this policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

We share your mobile number only with the service providers that deliver our text messages for us, such as our messaging platform and the wireless carriers. They may use it only to send our messages.

Section 6 How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share it only in these situations:

  • Service providers that work on our behalf under contracts that limit how they may use your information. These include website and membership hosting, our customer management and messaging platform, email and text delivery, payment processing, scheduling, video conferencing for live classes and sessions, printing and shipping for Bloom materials, analytics, and customer support. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
  • Educators and staff who deliver your program, who see only the information they need to do so.
  • Advertising and analytics partners, through the cookies and pixels described in Sections 2 and 8. Under some U.S. state laws, this may be considered "selling" or "sharing" personal information for targeted advertising. You can opt out as described in Sections 8 and 11. This never includes your mobile number or text message consent (Section 5) or information about your children (Section 7).
  • ESA programs and education funding platforms, when you pay through one, limited to what the program requires to process the payment.
  • Legal and safety reasons, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, court order, or legal process, or is needed to protect the rights, property, or safety of Origins, our families, or others.
  • Business transfers, in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or part of our business. Any successor would remain bound by the commitments in this policy, including the text message commitments in Section 5.
  • With your consent, in any other case where you have agreed or asked us to share information.

Live class replays are shared only with paying families enrolled in that program, in a private, members-only area.

Section 7 Children's Privacy

Our Services are designed for families and educators, and accounts are created and managed by adults 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13, or under the age of digital consent in their country. Children access our materials through an account set up by a parent, guardian, or educator. If a parent chooses to give a child access to the account, the parent is responsible for supervising that use.

A parent, guardian, or educator may choose to give us limited information about a child, such as a first name, grade level, learning needs, or interests, so that we can deliver and personalize the program. We use that information only for that purpose. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell it or share it for marketing.

Live classes and recordings

Children may appear on camera and speak during live classes. Recordings are made available only to paying families enrolled in that program, in a private, members-only area. Parents may keep their child's camera off, have their child use a first name only, or contact us to ask that a portion of a recording be removed.

Parent rights

Parents and guardians may review, correct, or delete their child's information, or ask us to stop collecting it, by emailing [email protected]. If we learn that we have collected personal information directly from a child under 13 without verified parental consent, we will delete it promptly.

Section 8 Cookies, Advertising, and Your Choices

We use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, complete checkout, understand how visitors use our site, measure our advertising, and show you relevant Origins ads on other websites and social media platforms. Some of these come from our advertising and analytics partners.

  • Browser controls: you can set your browser to refuse or delete cookies. Essential cookies are needed for login and checkout, so blocking them may stop parts of the site from working.
  • Interest-based ads: you can limit them through your ad settings on social media and search platforms, and through industry tools such as optout.aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu.
  • Global Privacy Control: where required by law, we honor Global Privacy Control signals as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.

Section 9 How Long We Keep Information

  • Account and subscription information: for as long as your account is active, and for up to 3 years afterward so that we can handle renewals, questions, and records.
  • Payment and tax records: for as long as tax and accounting laws require.
  • Email and text consent and opt-out records: for at least four years after you opt out, so that we can prove consent and make sure we never message you again after you have asked us to stop. Keeping your number on a do-not-contact list is how we honor your request.
  • Information about children: only as long as needed to provide the services you requested, and deleted on your request.

We may also keep information as needed to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When we no longer need information, we delete it or remove the details that identify you.

Section 10 How We Protect Information

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS), access limited to team members who need it, and reputable service providers that maintain their own security programs. Card payments are handled by a PCI-compliant payment processor.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.

Please keep your login credentials private, and tell us right away if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

Section 11 Your Choices and Rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
  • correct information that is inaccurate;
  • delete your information, subject to records we must keep by law or to honor your opt-out;
  • stop sending you marketing emails or text messages; and
  • opt out of the sale or sharing of your information, targeted advertising, and certain profiling.

Residents of some states, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Oregon, Texas, Virginia, and others with consumer privacy laws, may have additional rights under those laws. We will respond to requests within the time those laws require, usually within 45 days.

To make a request, email [email protected] with the subject line "Privacy Request." We will verify your identity by matching information we already hold, such as your account email. You may use an authorized agent, and we may ask for proof of that authorization. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response, and we will review the decision and explain the outcome. We will never charge you more or provide a lesser service because you exercised a privacy right.

Section 12 Visitors Outside the United States

Origins is based in the United States, and we serve families around the world. Your information is processed and stored in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live. Where the law requires, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers, such as contractual protections offered by our service providers, or on the transfer being necessary to provide the Services you requested.

Canada

We handle personal information in line with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws. You may request access to and correction of your personal information, and you may withdraw your consent to our use of it, subject to legal and contractual limits. If withdrawing consent means we can no longer provide a Service, we will tell you. If you have a concern we have not resolved, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

United Kingdom and European Economic Area

Origins Curriculum Inc. is the controller of your personal information. We process it on these legal bases:

  • Contract: to provide the Services you sign up for or purchase.
  • Legitimate interests: to run, secure, and improve our business and communicate with you, where those interests are not outweighed by your rights.
  • Consent: for marketing messages and non-essential cookies, which you may withdraw at any time.
  • Legal obligation: to meet tax, accounting, and other legal requirements.

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal information, to receive a copy of it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (UK) or your local data protection authority (EEA).

Australia

To the extent the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) applies to us, we handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. You may request access to and correction of your personal information. Your information will be disclosed to recipients in the United States and other countries where our service providers are located. If you have a complaint, please contact us first. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

All other countries

If you live outside the regions listed above, you may have rights under your local law to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to how it is used. Contact us and we will respond as your local law requires.

Section 13 Third-Party Links and Services

Our Services may link to websites, platforms, or tools we do not control, such as ESA vendor sites, video platforms, and social media. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we are not responsible for them. Please review their policies before sharing information with them.

Section 14 Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as our services or the law change. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will notify you by email or another reasonable method before it takes effect, and we will ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Section 15 Contact Us

If you have questions about this policy or how we handle your information, please contact us:
